The Gekkoei (月虹影) is an incomplete Knightmare Frame, which was used by Lelouch and C.C. in Re;surrection to Rescue Nunnally.

Design and Development

Because it was brought into combat before it was complete, the Gekkoei lacks legs. It also appeared to have limited armaments.

Much like the Gawain, the Gekkoei's cockpit is a double seater.

Operational History

After the Mahoroba Type-0 was damaged, C.C. brought the Gekkoei to Lelouch so that they could continue fighting during the battle with Zilkistan.

Trivia

• The Gekkoei is similar to the MSN-02 Zeong from Mobile Suit Gundam, also animated by Sunrise. Both are incomplete units, are lacking legs (which is the reason of their incomplete status), uses wired weaponry, and both are final weapons used by a main character of their respective shows (Gekkoei for Lelouch, the main protagonist of Re;surrection and Zeong for Char Aznable, the main antagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam).
  • The difference is that the Gekkoei is armed with melee weapons while the Zeong is armed with ranged armaments.
• The red ring projection on Gekkoei's Aegis Mode bears reminiscence to the ones found on Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements.
