Renya (age 17) is the protagonist of the fourth Code Geass manga
Code Geass: Renya of the Drakness. He is a young ninja in trainning during the Edo period of Japan, where he lives with his friends. Renya is a kind hearted person who always looks out for his friends and loved ones. He is very proficeint with a short sword, but his true specialty lies with throwing shuriken. Despite his skill, he still recieves poor grades in his ninja trainning because he is unskilled with everything else they teach. Renya's left arm is revealed to be mechanical, but why so has yet to be revealed, he was also the heir to his family's throne in the village where he lived. Despite the two aforementioned details Renya still lived a normal life, with trainning and hanging out with his friends; however this all changed one afternoon.
Unexpectedly a Jesuit army attacked Renya's village, burning it to the ground, forcing him and his friends to flee. It is during this conflict that Renya encounters C.C. who offers him a geass contract; Renya, desperate to save his friends, accepts but during the process the contract fails. At that moment Rena is attacked by a Jesuit soldier and

his metal arm suddenly transforms into a more demonic looking metalic arm with an eye in the center of his palm. When he asks C.C. if this was the Geass she promissed him, she replies in surprise that it is instead a curse. However this curse allows Renya to kill the soldier (functioning in the same way as a radient wave surger), but he soon realizes it is not something he can easily control. Despite this Renya rushes to save his friends, unaware of the danger he is about to encounter on this adventure.
