Naoto Kozuki (紅月ナオト, Kouzuki Naoto) was the older brother of Kallen Kōzuki and a member of the Resistance forces intent on liberating Japan from Britannian rule.

Character Outline[]

He was killed before the start of the series, which spurred Kallen into taking up the fight against Britannia. Prior to his death, he was in charge of the Resistance cell being led by Kaname Ohgi at the start of the series, a position Ohgi took up due to his close friendship with Naoto. Within the series he is only seen in photographs together with Kallen, which Ohgi glances at while musing over his own perceived inability to be as good a leader as Naoto apparently was. He is also mentioned during the Black Rebellion, when Ohgi begged Kallen to follow Zero from the battle and guard him with her life, as he believed Zero was the one person capable of "realizing Naoto's dream".

Etymology[]

  • Naoto's surname Kōzuki means "crimson, deep red" (紅) () and "moon" (月) (tsuki/zuki).

Trivia[]

  • Although Naoto never appears during the series, it was hinted by the staff during the TV series commentary that he may in fact not be dead. In the third chapter of Code Geass: Oz the Reflection's photo novel, Orpheus receives a mission from an unnamed man. Though this client's name is never given, his description matches that of Naoto, seeming to be a mixed ethnicity with bright hair with a headband, carried himself in a way that implied a well bred background despite his rough appearance. Furthermore, when Orpheus meets Kallen herself in a later chapter, he notes that she seems familiar and reminds him of someone he had met before.
