Timeline[]

The movies take place in their own timeline separate from the anime, with the fourth movie being an original story following the timeline of the movies. While the events of the first three movies are very similar to the anime (In a somewhat condensed format), there are a few key differences from the main timeline:

  • C.C. says in the trilogy's epilogue that she's unable to accept Lelouch's death. This key difference leads to her actions in "Lelouch of the Resurrection" and is the main "what if" around which the movies' alternate universe is built and without which the sequel movie was not possible.
  • Mao never appears
  • Villetta never approaches Shirley.
    • Instead of Shirley, Diethard is the one who shoots Villetta.
    • This prevents Shirley from discovering that Lelouch is Zero.
      • This stops the sequence of events that lead to her death at the hands of Rolo.
        • Her being alive opens her up to recover Lelouch's body after the Zero Requiem.
  • Anya interferes when the Avalon attempts to blast Lelouch, Suzaku, Kallen, and Euphemia.
    • Because of her interference, the group is never transported to Kanime Island.
