| Suzaku of the Counterattack |
Lloyd Asplund (ロイド アスプルンド Roido Asupurundo), is the director of ASEEC and lead researcher of Lancelot. While starting off as a main character supporting Suzaku, he is later revealed to an antagonist helping Schneizel fulfill his wish for immortality.
Appearance[]
Lloyd is a tall and very thin man. He has Greyish Blue hair and matchinge eyes. He is usually seen wearing a green turtleneck with a lab coat over top of his shirt. He wears both black pants and shoes and has very large glasses covering most of his face. He also has a smile on his face the majority of the time, despite it being mainly fake.
Personality[]
Lloyd only cares about his research, having no qualms about Morality or ethics. He only see Suzaku as a research subjects and despite his apparent loyalty so Schneizel, so no care over his death.
Character Outline[]
Lenard Lubie was originally Lloyd's supervisor before his retirement. When Mariel began working for him, he allowed her to finish school while still being his subordinate.
At some point, Lloyd was brought into Schneizel's research for immortality.
Character History[]
Lloyd is present when Suzaku wake up after being shot. He tells Suzaku that he survived and explains that the pocket watch he was carrying blocked the bullet. HE then introduces himself and asks Suzaku if he wants to work with him and have the power to change the world.
The next day, as Suzaku is brought in by Mariel, Lloyd welcomes him, but quickly realizes that Mariel forgot to tell him why Lloyd needed to see him and apologized. He then introduces Mariel to Suzaku.
Suzaku asks Llyod why an eleven soldier like him is able to join ASEEC and Lloyd points out that he is valuable to his research. They then hear over the speakers that Clovis has been assassinated and his killer is still being searched for. Jeremiah then arrives and informs Suzaku that he is being arrested for Clovis’s assassination.
After Suzaku was returnred to his jial cell following an attempt at a forced confession, Lloyd confirms that the person Suzaku had asked him to look into, Lelouch, wasn't on the list of casualties, much to Suzaku’s relief. Lloyd then asks if he really wanted to fight the charges despite no one in the trial being on his side, but Suzaku claims that the truth comes to light in courts. But Lloyd refutes this, claiming that the truth is scarce. Suzaku then states that if the world is truly like that, then he has no regrets.

A week after the trial, Lloyd happily looks over a monitor at the ASEEC base. When questioned, he claims to have gotten an excellent guinea pig inf the form of Suzaku. Elle and Suzaku then arrive and Lloyd tells Elle that someone was looking for her earlier, leading Maiel to realize that she forgot to inform others that she was going out an leaving. Lloyd then shows Suzaku the prototype infantry suit he will be wearing, the Lancelot. Lloyd explains that while no one can handle it yet, Suzaku has the gifts to be able to and he has been chosen. MAriel then returns, upset that lloyd tolf him about the Lancelot without her. SHe thne hands Llyod a file which he proceeds to hand to Suzaku, explaining that since his research is confidential, Suzaku needed to be promoted to a warrant officer to be a part of it, and the file is Suzaku’s letter of promotion. He then gives Suzaku and ID card as well as an acceptanc letter from Ashford Academy, courtesy of Mariel.
Later on, Lloyd moves to test the Lancelot, but they are interrupted by Jeremiah who required it for a mission. As the mission begins, Mariel tells Suzaku to be careful through the radio and Llyod tells her that this is good setting for the first test and she shouldn't be worried about Suzaku.
After Suzaku briefly freezes during another mission, Lloyd privately notes that the prince has been telling him to hurry and that Suzaku needs to get his act together. Mariel asks Suzaku if his is okay and Lloyd asks is he was being serious, pointing out his dropped synchronization rate. Mariel then intervenes and insists on taking Suzaku on a date for the afternoon and telling Suzaku to go change.
A few days late,, Lloyd notes how Suzaku seems to be doing better and Suzaku asks where Elle is. Lloyd explains that her father is returning to the homeland and she is seeing him off. Lloyd says that he was going to the hospital to see him off and asks if Suzaku wanted to go with him. He explains that Mariel kept talking about Suaku and it sparked her dad’s entrance and since Suzaku is involved with the Lancelot, he should introduce himself.
At the hospital, Lenard thanks Lloyd for coming and he and Suzkau introduce themselves. Lenard then asks him to take care of Mariel, which Suzaku agrees to. Mariel then arrives and drives off with her father. Suzaku notes that Lloyd knows Lenard well and Lloyd explains that he is his former supervisor.
After Suzaku receives a call from Mariel telling him about a Black Knight attack, he tells Llyod and they send Suzaku as Lancelot. The two take a helicopter to her position and Lloyd nots how he can't reach her. They reach the location and see that the car she was in has crashed and is surrounded by black knight trucks. Lloyd points out that they can't land the helicopter there, but Suzaku claims he doesn't need it to and prepares to jump out. Before he leaps, Llyod hands him a new sword for the lancelot.
On a video call with Scheizel, the prince reveals to Llyod that he will e going to Area 11 on an errand for the emperor.
Later, at the base, Lloyds is informed by Jeremiah that he needs the Lancelot. Lelouch notes how Zero interfered in their mission the other day and Lloyd points out that there is a resistance group HQ near Hamamatsu station in the Shizouka region, but Zero had probably already left. He then wonders why the military needed the Lancelot’s help. During the resue mission Lloyd calls Suzaku over and shows him that his synchronization rate is 83%. He then explains that he’s done repairing the Lancelot, so he will got o Britannia to pay respects to Mariel’s father. He asks if Suzaku wants to come, but he insists on staying to help the rescue team. As Suzaku leave, Jeremiah enters the trailer and angrily complains about Zero. Lloyd notes that alot of information seems ot be getting leaks and tells JEremiah to be more careful, which Jeremiah doesn't take kindly.
During a small party, Tamaki brags about his accomplishments, but become irritated when others point out how he was already punished for his previous behavior and most new black knight recruits are drawn in by Zero.
At Ashford, C.C. asks what Lelouch intends to do with Suzaku. Lelouch states that Suzaku doesn't belong with Britannia and he will convince him of such. C.C. questions if he will use his geass, but Lelouch denies this. She then asks if its due to responsibility, friendship , or pride, and Lelouch acknowledges that its because of all of it. She reminds Lelouch that he might have to kill him. Lelouch stays silent.
Back in Britannia, Mariel visits her father’s grave. She runs into Lloyd & Prince Schiezel. She introduces herself to the prince who expresses sadness Lenard’s passing. Schneizel the explains that he had scouted Lenard while he was working on the Lancelot at university. The group then goes to another location where Mariel presents a disk that Lenard wanted him to give to Schneizel, admitting that she had looked at it since it said “Lancelot”. She explains Lenard’s research regarding regulators and the Power of the King, impressing Schneizel. Lloyd and Schneizel soon depart, with Llyod informing Mariel that he will stay in Britannia for a few days and she should give his regards to Suzaku.
During the museum opening Lloyd approaches Scheizel and Suzaku, wondering where the emperor was. Schneizel said he went to rest Lloyd then whispers something to Schneizel and the prince says if he is who Schneizel thinks he is, he will come without a doubt. During the Black Knight's attack, Lloyd informs Suzaku that the security cameras caught Zero heading towards the emperor's location. Following Zero's arrest, Lloyd tells Schneizel that he should get medical assistance. As they leave, Scheizel asks if they found her and Lloyd states the Glaston Knights found her alone in a black knights trailer.
Several days later, Lloyd notes that Jeremiah seems gloomy despite Zero being captured. Jeremiah explains that since the emperor’s death, activity from resistance groups have increased. He’s also concerned that the black knights have made no moves despite Zero’s capture and questions if they have another leader. A soldier then comes in and asks what Jeremiah plans to do going forward and Jeremiah tells him to continue prioritizing the search for the black knights.
Later on, Llyod enters the restricted room. He and Scheizel are in a laboratory examining C.C., who is locked in a capsule. Llyod tells him that the machine is complete and they simply need to wait for the week of the eclipse.
IN the memory C.C. shows Suzaku, Lloyd then comes in and states that the machine is ready and they just have to wait for the eclipse next week. He also mentions that Suzaku had been acting oddly since Zero’s capture, but Scheiezel states that he just praised him as a brilliant subordinate. Lloyd then calls Schneizel cruel for using Suzaku’s trauma to manipulate him.
After Lelouch and Suzkau escape, back in the laboratory, Lloyd mentioned how Jeremiah failed to stop Lelouch. Schneizel is unconcerned. Lloyd then points out the Suzaku escaped too, but Sncheizel claims that have the data to produce and army of Lancelots and Suzaku can be replaced. Lloyd and Schneizel note that the time has come and the world is now Schneizel's.
Just before the eclipse Lelouch and Suzaku confront Schneizel and Lloyd. As Suzaku fails to approach Schneizel, Lloyd states that Schneizel is becoming an immortal and only someone with a geass can approach him. He also states that Schneizel is using the knightmare system to become a geass user and Suzaku could have stopped him in his helmet wasn't broken. After Suzaku kills Schneizel, Lloyd commends for awakening a geass from inside of himself through willpower alone.

As everything starts to shake, Llyod states that C.C. losing her power has caused the world to begin to collapse. He then asks what Suzaku is going to do. After Lelouch is shot and Suzaku begins to approach C.C. Lloyd questions if he is really okay with replacing C.C., telling Suzaku that as her powers are released, touching her will transfer them to him. Suzaku states that everyone will die if he does nothing and if he can save everyone, he will do it. Suzaku touches the capsule, resulting in a large explosion.
5 years later, Llyod's body has not been found.
