Suzaku of the Counterattack |
Lelouch vi Britannia (ルルーシュ・ヴィ・ブリタニア Rurūshu vi Buritania) is a main character of Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack. After he was exiled, he used the alias Lelouch Lamperouge (ルルーシュ・ランペルージ, Rurūshu Ranperūji). He was the Eleventh Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire and the son of the 98th Emperor of Britannia, Charles zi Britannia. He was also the leader and founder of The Black Knights and the real identity of Zero.
Appearance[]
Lelouch appears identical to his mainline counterpart with black hair, violet eyes and a lanky frame.
5 years later, his hair is slightly longer, with his bangs covering his missing eye.
Personality[]
Lelouch deeply cares about methods of the black knights. Wanting them to acts as knights that protect the week rather then behaving like typical terrorists that harm civilians.
Background[]
Lelouch was born as the 11th prince of the Holy Britannian Empire under Emperor Charles zi Britannia and Imperial Consort Marianne vi Britannia. After his mother's assassination, Lelouch and his younger sister Nunnally were banished to Japan and political hostages. During this time, the two were under the care of Genbu Kururugi and became good friends with his son, Suzaku. Following Britannia's invasion of Japan, the siblings took on the last name Lamperougue and went into hiding as students at Ashford Academy.
Character History[]
One day, Lelouch happens upon a large capsule inside the ghetto. As it begins to open, a soldier suddenly grabs Lelouch and puts a gas mask on him, bit both are shocked when a girl falls out. the soldier then tells Lelouch not to move and that they should stop killing, Leading Lelouch to point out that the canister clearly isn't poison gas and blames the killing on the Britannians. The soldier claims that he is fighting to protect people, but Lelouch states that he should be fighting against britannia. The soldier then removes his helmet, allowing Lelouch to recognize him as Suzaku. Lelouch asks why Suzaku became a britannian soldier, but Suzaku wonders why Lelouch became a terrorist, which Lelouch denies.
The disposal squad then arrives and Suzaku is initially commended for stalling. He is then ordered to shoot Lelouch, but Suzaku refuses and is shot by the commander. The commander then takes it upon himself to kill Lelouch. Just then, the girl’s bindings are undone and she grabs Lelouch’s arm. She mentally communicates with him, asking if he wants power and offering him a contract in exchange for granting her wish. Lelouch agrees and acquires a geass. He then uses his new power to order all of the men to die. The men proceed to point their guns at their own temples and kill themselves. As he picks the girl up and begins to carry her away, Lelouch notes how he finally found Suzaku only for him to die. As he does this, more royal guardsmen enter the scene.

Nunnally greets Lelouch as he arrives back home, noting that he was late. Lelouch states that he was doing work for the student council and is carrying a package (C.C.). He places C.C. on his bed and wonders about the power she gave him, deciding to use it against Britannia. He then turns on his computer and watches Clovis’s press conference about the situation. While the press conference plays in the background, he thinks about the targets of his revenge for what happened to his mother and Nunnally, deciding to start with Clovis.

Later on, a man in a black outfit stops Clovis’s Limousine. The man removes his mask, revealing himself as Lelouch and using his geass to force the guards to kill each other. Clovis then exits the car and Lelouch points his gun at him, revealing himself as the exiled prince.
After it is publicly announced that Suzaku has been arrested for the assassination, Lelouch overhears Kallen's phonecall with th eother resistance members. When Kallen then approaches her allies in a warehouse and explains that she actually saw the assassination, Lelouch, in his black outfit then appears and asks for their cooperation.

Zero announces himself as Clovis's killer.
As the trial begins, A car suddenly barrels though the wall. He man in black steps out and introduces himself as Zero, proclaiming himself to be the one who killed Clovis.
Suzaku is taken away by Zero and is led to a location in the ghetto. There, Zero offers Suzaku to join him. Suzaku asks why Zero killed Clovis, but Zero questions why he wouldn't kill the enemy commander in a war. The angers Suzaku who stands by his beliefs that Britannia can be changed from within and immoral means don't have value. An irritated Zero questions if Suzaku would really go back to his trial despite knowing that its rigged. Suzaku doesn't answer and simply leaves, thanking Zero for what he did. On his way out, Zero angrily calls him a fool.

Over a week later, Suzaku officially joins Ashford as a new student. Upon his introduction, he is shocked to see Lelouch in his class. As rumors spread about Suzaku allegedly killing Clovis, Lelouch calls him to an empty classroom. The two express their concern for each other before Lelouch states that he knew Suzaku wasn't Clovis’s murderer from the start. Suzaku explains that zero helped him out and Lelouch quesitns id hes still in the military. Suzaku confirms it and Lelouch angrill questions his decision. Just then some student walk by and , not noticing the presence of he boys, question Lelouch’s decision to talk to Suzaku, assuming Suzaku is threatening him in some way. This urges Suzaku to tell Lelouch to keep his distance from him to avoid hurting his reputation. Lelouch states that eh doesn't care, but Suzaku points out that he couldn't explain their relationship and at worst, his identity of a price might be revealed. As the day goes on, Lelouch watches on in frustration as Suzaku is ostracized by their classmates. Later, On, Suzaku notifies Lelouch that Nunnally and C.C. are waiting for him outside the classroom much to his shock.

Later in the courtyard, Lelouch questions why C.C. brought Nunnally with her and she explains that Nunnally really wanted to go. She then jokes, reminding Lelouch that she isn't a maid before leaving. Lelouch then joins Nunnally and Suzaku, who asks if the girl left. Lelouch confirms and claims she is a distant relative, noting that Suzaku didn't recognize C.C. as the girl in the capsule. He tells Suzaku that all 3 of them live in the clubhouse and Nunnally suggest that they invite Suzaku to dinner. Suzaku tries to cancel the dinner plans, but Lelouch insists. Then, noticing the broken glass that is about to fall on Nunnally, Suzaku quickly jumps in to shield her. She asks if he’s okay and Suzaku says he is, not telling her about a cut on his arm. Students begin flooding the area and a teacher asks what happened. Lelouch picks up Nunnally and explains a window broke and Suzaku saved Nunnally from the falling glass. The teacher tells Lelouch to take his sister to the nurse and claims that Suzaku somehow caused the problem. Lelouch, irritated, reiterates that Suzaku saved Nunnally and tells Suzaku to come with them to the nurse’s office.
That knight Zero leads the black knights to take down drug smugglers using their name. HE sees a masked man taking down several smugglers and is impressed by the masked man’s handiwork, questioning if he is a Britannian soldier. While the masked man takes Zero’s presence of prrof of the Black Knight’s involvement, Zero explains that the men actually lied about being black knights and for that as well as drug trafficking, they were punished. He then decides to leave the smugglers to the masked man, but Jeremiah and his forces then arrive. Jeremiah tries to shoot Zero as revenge for Clovis, but C.C. steps in the way and takes the bullet, getting shot in the head. The masked man suddenly breaks down and Zero uses the opportunity to activate a smoke screen and escape with C.C.'s body. Later on, Lelouch is mourning C.C., but is happy when she reveals that she is alive.
Several days later, during class, Suzaku notice that Kallen seems high strung and asks Lelouch about it. He claims to not know but states that he’s been wondering the same about Suzaku, noting that its bene a while since he's been at school. Lelouch then decides to leave and Suzaku see a magazine talking about the Lancelot.

Later that day, Kallen informs Zero about Tamaki's plan and the duo rushes to stop it. ON the way to the location, Zero admonishing the actions of the rogue black knights. Kallen explains that they were trying to kick him out of the group and she couldn't stop them. She notes that even if its to obtain the Lancelot’s secret, kidnapping is too far. Zero agrees, stating that the black knights are defenders of the week and this kind of action would simply make then terrorists. They arrive at the scene, with Zero immediately seeing the Lancelot. Lancelot questions why Zero has done this, but MAriel exist the car, calling Zero a murderer. Zero tries to explain the situation, but he is cut off when the car suddenly explosion. Lancelot shield Mariel, but his helmet is slightly damaged, allowing Zero to discover his identity. Zero and Kallen quickly retreat.
Later on, Suzaku thanks Lelouch and Nunnaly for inviting him to dinner. Lelouch asks if work is the reason he hasn't been to school lately, but their conversation is cut off by a news report about the Black knight’s attack. Suzaku asks him to change the channel and Leleouch asks if he was at the scene. Suzaku hesitantly admits that he was and reveals that the man who died was the father of his friend. He then tearfully breaks down that, despite going to help her, he couldn't save her father and swears to never forgive Zero.
The next day, Lelouch notices Suzaku pull his collar as he leaves the classroom. He meets Suzaku on the roof, noting how they hadn't used that signal in a long time. Suzaku apologizes for leaving abruptly the day before and Lelouch states that he’s fine, he also clarifies that Nunnally was worried. He then says that he had something he wanted to discuss with Suzaku.
That night, C.C. asks what Lelouch intends to do with Suzaku. Lelouch states that Suzaku doesn't belong with Britannia and he will convince him of such. C.C. questions if he will use his geass, but Lelouch denies this. She then asks if its due to responsibility, friendship , or pride, and Lelouch acknowledges that its because of all of it. She reminds Lelouch that he might have to kill him. Lelouch stays silent.
Some days later, Lelouch and Suzaku collect items for a celebration Milly is throwing. While Lelouch complains, Suzaku stays positive. After seeing a wanted poster for Zero, Suzaku asks Lelouch what he thinks of the Black Knights. Lelouch states that they protect the weak and are a hope for the Japanese people. Suzaku disagrees, pointing out that lately their actions have been involving the innocent. The two begin to get into an argument about the black knight’s methodology, but they are cut off by a news broadcast revealing that The emperor has arrived in Area 11 and is holding a press conference. During his press conference, Charles, with Schneizel by his side, reiterates his Darwinist stance and praises Britannia for its ability to move to the future.
The emperor’s speech infuriates Lelouch and he considers how to act with Charles in the country. Suzaku then hears a small click from the person next to them and asks them to show him what in his pocket. The man then pulls out a gun and states that he will teach Suzaku and the Emperor of what he’s capable of. Lelouch then recognizes the man as a member of the black knights. Suzaku attempts to disarm the man and during a struggle, the man drops a detonator. He explains that in 3 minutes, a train will explode. Suzaku questions him, asking what he intends to achieve and if the black knights really operate that way. Lelouch also confronts the man claiming that his methods are no different then Britannia. Suzaku then asks if Lelouch knows how to disarm a bomb. Lelouch confirms and Suzaku offers to disarm the bomb while Suzaku gives him instructions over the phone. Lelouch is against it, but Suzaku moves before he can stop him, telling Lelouch that there's nothing the two of them cant do by working together.
On the train tracks, Suzaku finds the bomb and moves to cut one of the wires. Lelouch hurriedly tells him that he’s out of time as the train approaches. Suzaku narrowly manages to cut the wire and jump off the tracks before the train comes through. As Suzaku climbs down, Lelouch tells him to be less rash. Marie then calls Suzaku and he leaves. As he goes, Lelouch laments that he couldn't convince Suzaku to abandoned Britannia.

Late in the Evening, Suzaku visits Lelouch and Nunnally saying he had something he wanted to tell them. Suzaku tells him that he had decided to become Prince Scheizel’s knight, stating that he believes in Schneizel's vision and thinking the Scheizel would understand Lelouch and Nunnally’s situation. Lelouch tried to convince him to decline the offer, but Suzaku is set on his decision. As Suzaku leaves, he sadly notes that he had wanted Lelouch to be happy for him. On the other side of the door, Suzaku tells himself that he will build a peaceful world.
The next day, during the museum opening, Oghi points out that the people there are civilians and questions if they should really attack. Zero explains that the goal isn't to attack the ceremony: while the black knights cause confusion and bait the military, Zero will assassinate the emperor. Kallen insists on going with Zero, but he rejects it, saying they know how much security will be there during the ceremony. He then tells everyone to take their positions as they cant fail this mission. C.C. then grabs his cape and tells him she has a bad feeling and he shouldn't let his guard down as well as reminding him of his duty to fulfill her wish. Lelouch acknowledges as much, but states that he doesn't know when he will get another chance to kill the emperor. Understanding, she then decides to tell him why Charles needed her. While contemplating the meaning of C.C.’s words, Zero is approached by Kallen, she had doubts about the mission, but zero tells her that they must do whatever it takes. He says he wont force her and gives her the option to turn back. Kallen decides that she will follow him to the end, and he thanks her before activating his geass.
As the attack on the museum commences, Zero heads towards Charles's location. After using his geass to make the gaurds leave, he notices that the security is too lax and questions if its a trap, only to discover that the Emperor is already dead. Schneizel then reveals himself and reveals that he already knows Zero’s identity as Lelouch. When questioned, Scheizel states that a certain person already told him Zero’s true identity. Zero questions if Scheizel killed the emperor. When Scheizel refuses to answer, Zero attempts to use his geass. Scheizel quickly grabs his face, telling Lelouch that he told him to use his power more carefully. He then states that he needs C.C. returned to him and notes that it sounds as if Suzaku had arrived.

Suzaku bursts into the room to see a wounded Schneizel standing before Zero. Suzaku shoots Zero and the bullet hits the top of his helmet, cracking it down the middle and causing it to fall off, revealing Lelouch's identity. Suzaku shocked questions Lelouch’s motives, but Lelouch says that Suzaku should already know. Suzaku questions if he killed the emperor and Lelouch then points a gun at Schizel and says he needs to kill him for their sake. Suzaku warns him that if he does, he will shoot Lelouch, leading to a standoff between the two as both prepare to fire their guns.
Lelouch is shot and incapacited by the Glaston Knights. Schiezel then tells Lelouch that he will leave the final decision to the judicial branch. Lelouch tells Schizel that he wont get away with this, but is unable to look Suzaku in the eyes as he is led away.

Several days later, Suzaku approaches Lelouch's cell. Once inside the cell, he tells Lelouch that he is going to rescue him before undoing his restraints. Lelouch questions his actions and Suzaku explains he spoke to C.C., who reveals Schneizel’s true goals, and that he can't allow him to carry out his plan. He then says C.C. asked him to take care of Lelouch and urge Lelouch to change outfits. After a moment of hesitation, Lelouch decides to believe Suzaku.
As the two walk through the halls, with Lelouch disguised as a guard, he thinks that it's hard for him to believe that Suzaku would betray Schneizel, but he also acknowledges that Schneizel would have nothing to gain by releasing him. On the way out, the duo is captured by Jeremiah who realizes Suzaku’s plan. One of the soldiers shoots Lelouch, but he narrowly avoids the bullet. Jeremiah then catches him, but recognizes him as Marianne’s son. Before Jeremiah can act, Lelouch uses his geass to force Jeremiah to aid in their escape. This leads Jeremiah to shoot one of the soldiers. Lelouch and Suzaku use the distraction to escape. As they depart, Suzaku wonders if that is the power of geass.
ON television, Zero announces that unless Britannian forces surrender by 9 o'clock, tomorrow, the black knights will attack the settlement. Suzaku asks Lelouch who that is and Lelouch reveals it to be Kallen. He geass Kallen so that if something happened to Zero, she would become Zero and lead the black knights in his place. He expects that Japan will be liberated tomorrow. Suzaku points out that tomorrow is too late, clarifying that if they don't stop Schneizel before the eclipse tomorrow, then he will become immortal and take over the world. Suzaku moves to go to Schneizel and stop him, but Lelouch chastises him for trying to go to the Bureau alone. Suzaku states that his belief that peace could be obtained through just action was just him reassuring himself. He laments the fact that he nearly killed Lelouch, his most precious friend for Schneizel's sake and expresses his determination to stop Schneizel in order to protect Lelouch and Nunnally. Lelouch questions if Suzaku plans to throw his life away, pointing out that even with the knightmare system, the military has counters for it. Lelouch then reminds Suzaku that if the two of them work together, nothing is impossible. He tells Suzaku that while the eclipse starts at noon, the black knight’s operation starts at 9 am and all they can do at the moment is wait.

Zero liberates Japan.
Lelouch resumes his identity as Zero and commands the black knights. The next day, Suzaku asks Lelouch what his plan is, Lelouch states that he plans to destroy the locks to the settlement. Suzaku points out that the people living in the settlement will be at risk, but Lelouch points out that Zero made a television announcement the day before so that people could evacuate. As the locks are disabled and the settlement falls Zero announces his goal to liberate Japan to the black knights.

Just before the eclipse Lelouch and Suzaku meet with Schneizel. As Suzaku attacks the man, he is pushed back by a wall of wind. Lloyd explains that Schneizel is becoming an immortal and only someone with a geass can approach him. Lelouch attempts to use his geass on Schneizel, but it's ineffective and Schneizel punctures Lelouch’s eye. Scheizel then explains that Marianne had also discover his plan and had allowed C.C. to escape, revealing that he was the one who had her killed. Scheizel laments that if Lelouch had kept his quiet and not rebelled against him, he would have lived. He then points a gun at Lelouch. Suzaku then unlocks his own geass and stabs Schneizel, killing him.
Lelouch then goes to release C.C.. Just then, everything starts to shake and Llyod states that C.C. losing her power has caused the world to begin to collapse. He then asks what Suzaku is going to do. Jeremiah then appears and shoots Zero before falling off the building. Suzaku catches Lelouch and tells him to wait there. Suzaku then takes S.C.'s immortality and the building is engulfed in an explosion.
5 years later, Lelouch receives Mariel's letter along with Suzaku's pocket watch She states that Suzaku’s watch was found at the scene and she fixed it and is sending it with the letter. After reading the letter Lelouch answers the door and sees Suzaku.

Lelouch uses his geass on Clovis's guards.
Lelouch's Geass is identical to his mainline counterpart. By establishing eye contact, he can put others under his command to follow his orders. He seemingly lost his geass when Schneizel punctured his eye.
