The owner at the time of the invasion of Japan, Genbu Kururugi had decided that Japan would fight to the last man, which ending up with him being killed by his son.

Prior to the Second Assault on Tokyo Settlement, it was used as a meeting place between Lelouch and Suzaku, in which Lelouch pleas with Suzaku to save Nunnally. While Lelouch was pleading with Suzaku, Britanian soldiers massed outside lead by Kanon Maldini. Lelouch was captured, but sometime prior to this time he used Geass on Guilford to make him believe that whenever he assumed the pose of lifting his collar, Lelouch was Cornelia li Britannia. Guilford broke Lelouch out of his cell and aided his escape.

Nightmare of Nunnally

In this alternate storyline Genbu Kururugi was killed by C.C. when he attempts to kill his hostages, Lelouch and Nunnally. During a simultaneous recap by Suzaku and Lelouch it is revealed that Suzaku and Nunnally had once become trapped in a underground room which began to flood, in which Suzaku responded by putting the already crippled Nunnally on a crate that would float.

Suzaku of the Counterattack

In this alternate storyline Genbu Kururugi was still killed by Suzaku, but instead for attempting to sell out Japan to the Britannian emperor.

It should be noted that, in the original timeline, according to the official light novel (Stage 0: Entrance), Suzaku's father was planning on selling out Japan to begin with, and was intent on using Lelouch's and Nunnally's lives as sacrificial pawns for his own greed. This was ultimately what prompted Suzaku to commit patricide.
