Jugo Sumeragi (皇 重護 Sumeragi Jūgo) is the former governor of Japan's Hokkaido block and father of Sakuya Sumeragi.
Appearance[]
Jugo is a tall man with gray hair that connected into a matching goatee with 2 white streaks on either side of his head. HE also possesses blue eyes. After his imprisonment, he gained some weight due to lack of exercise.
In his younger years, his hair was jet black.
Personality[]
Jugo has a jovial and lighthearted personality. He also possesses a strong will, not letting his imprisonment lessen his spirits and being more concerned about his daughter then himself.
Character History[]

Jugo was the governor of the United States of Japan's Hokkaido Block. He eventually met and married Sherry me Britannia, resulting in the birth of Sakuya Sumeragi. Kensei Kuroto served as his family's bodyguard.
When Hokkaido was invaded by the Neo Britannian Empire, Jugo was captured. The guard who was put in charge of Jugo happened to have had his family's life saved by Jugo as governor. Because of this, Jugo was treated well while in prison, even having his meals changed to traditionally Japanese ones to suit his tastes. Eventually, Ash Phoenix was put into the cell across from him. Jugo attempted to be friendly, trying to talk to Ash and convincing the guard to revert the meals back into Britannian ones so Ash would eat them, but Ash remained silent. Eventually, it was decided that Jugo would be executed. This led to Jugo tearfully acknowledging that while he wasn't scared of death, he feared what his death meant for his daughter. This led Ash to open up about his brother and the two kept talking, becoming friends. Eventually, when Jugo's execution date was decided, the guard wanted to help him to escape, but Jugo, knowing that his escape would worsen things for the Japanese population, refused. Ash, not wanting his friend to be executed, offered to escape with them in order to protect Jugo's daughter, leading Jugo to agree. As they made there escape, the guard was killed and it was revealed Norland had anticipated their escape attempt. While fleeing Jugo was shot in the leg and encouraged Ash to escape and find and protect Sakuya, giving him a picture of her. As Ash escapes, Jugo is shot multiple times, but manages to remain alive. As the soldier points a gun to his head, Jugo asks that they make his death quick before being killed.
Ash would go on to blame himself for Jugo's death. He would eventually meet and become geassed by Sakuya, leading to him unknowingly fulfilling Jugo's last wish
