The Code R Research Team was a team of researchers who were in charge of a top secret Britannian Military research project founded and overseen by Prince Clovis. The team employs people from the Rosenberg Institute under the leadership of Bartley Asprius. Not all members of the Britannian Imperial Family are aware of its existence. Its focus is the research of C.C. and the nature of the Geass ability, with the intent of duplicating her powers. The Code R Research Team was also responsible for finding Jeremiah Gottwald and giving him mechanical upgrades for his body after he was nearly killed by Kallen Kozuki in the Battle of Narita

Nightmare of Nunnally[]
In the manga, Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, the Code-R project was also referred to as Project C.C.. Following C.C.'s capture, Britannian forces began experimenting on her in hopes of discovering the secrets of eternal youth. It also seems connected to the Eden Vital Order. There were 3 experiments known to have taken place using C.C.'s cells:
- The first experiment including taking orphans from refugee camps and implanting them with C.C.'s cells. Compatible subjects were able to obtain artificial gasses, but were at risk of cellular degeneration if they did not regularly receive suppressants. This gave birth to the Irregulars.
- The second experiment was an attempt to create a clone of C.C. by stringing her cells together, leading to the creation of the Magical Device Nemo.
- The third experiment included an attempt to artificially create a wired geass user by injecting a fertilized embryo with C.C.'s cells. This resulted in the creation of Rolo vi Britannia.
Suzaku of the Counterattack[]
In the manga, Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack, Schneizel el Britannia was the true mastermind behind Code R. The true goal of the project was to steal C.C.'s immortality and control over geass and in order to grant them to Schneizel, allowing him to conquer the world. Lloyd Asplund was the lead scientist of the project.
